The power of solar cooking

Do you know of an amazing piece of equipment that has the potential to transform the lives of so many people around the world?  It’s called a solar oven.  Many of you are already aware of this wonderful invention.  Up until a couple months ago, my experience with solar ovens was limited to my son’s pizza box ovens to make s’mores without a campfire.  However, I was fortunate enough to be brought in on the dreams of a faithful young woman and, as I have previously written, I now know of the Villager Solar oven.  This amazing invention has the power to change the lives of poverty stricken people in sunny locations throughout the world.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with a number of social issues.  With a Villager Sun Oven in place, orphanages and schools throughout the country would be able to spend less money on charcoal and more money on food or other expenses and create less of an impact on Haiti’s environment.  With a deforestation rate of approximately 90%, the more Villager Sun Ovens in Haiti, the more chance there is for these forests to be reclaimed.

It will take concerned individuals and organizations to make a difference, however.  If you are one of these individuals who’d like to get involved, leave me your email address.  I’d love to let you know how you can help in this endeavor, one orphanage and one school at a time . . .

  1. You can build the Fun-Panel solar cooker in less than an hour from half of a cardboard box an a few feet of aluminum foil.
